More Courageous than the Cowardly Lion

Good Morning,
This morning I met my brother in one of the cafeterias at the university we both attend. We laughed and talked and had a generally good visit full of occupy jokes and talks of what we are giving our loved ones for christmas. As we talking and drinking our delicious fruit juices, Adam looked over to a close by table and told me to do the same. There was a guy sitting there will a curly perm-hair do, a late 80's/ 90's sweater on, and a mustache. Adam and I realised just then that we were looking at a vision of our father when he attended the same university we attend now. My dad had that same curly perm, sweater, and moustache. We had no choice but to sneekily snap a picture and send it to our oldest brother Dane, this was just to good not to share.
This brings me to my random thoughts now. This guy clearly likes the way he looks, an early 90's esque vision, no one would dress or style themselves a certain way if they didn't. It takes a great deal of confidence to just walk around looking the way you want to, when it's not the "norm." There is another guy who walks around campus everyday with top hats, brief case, and colorful and old fashioned suit. Today was a forrest green type of day for him. Sometimes, or rather most of the time, people probably look at him and think what is he wearing, or assume he's "not all quite there" but really people should apploud him for his efforts. This man is clearly pretty brave, and confident, and really shouldn't let anyone think less of him. Im not saying everyone should go around dressing in themes, but you should do whatever makes you happy, who cares about what others' think of how you look.
This being said, I believe you should dress how you want, but looking like you just dragged yourself out of bed/ and or sewer is not appropriate. There are times and places for all fashion choices, and greasy messy hair, dirty sweat pants, uggs, and your boyfriends hoodie look is only appropriate in your home. Seriously how much efffort does it take to look presentable. Take a shower every day or two, buy a hairbrush and use it, and wear clean clothes.. So wear crazy 80's prints, or a 20's flapper dress if it'll make you happy, but remember theres a time and place for everything. A Ball gown might be fun to wear, but save it for the next gala in your city, and pyjamas are fun to wear as well, but save them bedtime not school. Have fun, and remember only you can be the best you, and don't be too quick to pass judgement on a person. That friend with the hideously ugly pattern may be in absolute love with it, and it may make her feel pretty.. who knows.. Maybe I will be brave and wear a tiara to school one day, probably not, but if I feel confident enough to do it, then its a huge break though.
Peace,
-EAG
